With this in mind, it's no surprise that General Motors was the organization that produced the first two-seat sports vehicle in the united states. Vehicle happens to be "ahead with the game" in terms of innovative concepts and producing cutting-edge vehicles. The Corvette was just another day in realm of GM dream-making perfection.

The Corvette Concept

In 1927 Chevrolet hired a man by the name of Harley Earl, who in the near future, could be responsible for the style of the Chevrolet Corvette. After WWII, soldiers returning from overseas were buying MGs, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos along with other cars of similarity. Designed with this info, Earl was able to convince General Motors of the requirement for a two-seat American sports vehicle. The end result was obviously a 1953 Corvette, which was originally hand-built in Chevrolet's Flint, Michigan delivery center.

The Corvette Name

Myron E. "Scottie" Scott, will always be highlighted ever as the man who gave the Corvette its name.

In 1937, Chevrolet hired Myron Scott as a possible assistant director for that Pr department. Here Myron was responsible for the photography, marketing and pr of the new cars. Her served this task for many years.

In 1953, a unique executive meeting was arranged to discover a name for a brand new Chevrolet sports vehicle that was being developed. Following suite, the company wanted a name that started with a "C". Over 300 names were thought up and submitted for your running, but none of the 300 names made the ultimate cut.

That night Scott was at home looking through the "C" portion of the dictionary and discovered the definition of "corvette" - "a speedy pursuit ship in the British navy". The very next day Scott suggested "Corvette" to the group everyone loved it.
